The Role

Atlas Copco is looking for a Fastening Specialist who will be an ambassador for the Atlas Copco brand onsite at our customer, General Motors. As a Fastening Specialist, you will interface with plant management and the skilled trade group regarding their torque tools, fastening equipment and torque management processes. You will set up new tooling in the customer's facility, maintain a PM and calibration schedule, and manage the logistics of shipping tools in and out of the customer's facility all while working directly with the customer. You will also resolve tooling and production issues that may arise. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable with communicating across all levels of the organization and be knowledgeable in tool repair processes, torque strategies and customer protocols for fastening.

This opening is for 2nd shift. You will report to the Regional Team Leader and will report onsite daily at our customer's, GM, Bowling Green, KY facility. There is also 5% national travel required throughout the year for training purposes.The pay for this position is $30/hr and a full benefits package is offered.

Some additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure conformance to all torque tool bulletins relating to setting, auditing and all quality control of the released torque specifications for all bolted joints on the vehicle
  • Maintain 100% Accuracy of the torque programs including angle measurements and speeds
  • Obtain full knowledge of the Torque to Yield (TAY) Process control plan and all quality mandates associated with it
  • Understand and implement all control plans and torque processes
  • Complete and maintain the correlation studies for anytime the static vs dynamic torque fall outside of the released spec.
  • Maintain the legal document retention standards for data collection
  • Set up error proofing strategies for any fastener put under containment

What We Expect of You

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience in a production environment, working with manufacturing automation, assembly tooling or data collection systems
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working on power tooling in a production environment or equivalent experience.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and calibration experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Efficient in computer systems, such as MS Office, and networking/database experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
