Biosensor Hardware Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Integrate new sensor modalities into high volume consumer products through all stages of product development (from prototyping, design, and characterization, through mass production).

  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in design, test, and integration of electrical systems for biosensors applications in wearable products.

  3. Develop firmware solutions for testing and validating prototypes and products under test.

  4. Failure analysis and corrective actions on integration of sensor modules as part of product development cycle.

  5. Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks.

  6. Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.

  7. Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field and 18 months of work experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

  2. Requires 18 months of experience involving the following:

    1. Biosensor development (PPG, ECG, BioZ, temperature sensors), including validation experience, root cause analysis, and proposing mitigation for sensor inaccuracies.
    1. Characterization of sensor systems using electronics lab tools oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers and logic analyzers and optical test equipment (white-card testing or integrating sphere).
    1. Hardware design, including PCB schematic and layout design (Kicad) and sensor integration practices for wearable platforms.
    1. Experience with Python including creating software test infrastructure to communicate with test hardware and process sensor data using Python or MATLAB
    1. Working with optical systems and photoplethysmography, including experience in the optical sensor manufacturing landscape, LED and photodiode physics, SNR, cross-talk, CTR, and noise sources.
    1. Experience with Medical-grade temperature sensing and validation using temperature oven/oil bath.
    1. ADC and analog front-end fundamentals for health and wearable applications.
    1. Using and contributing to a version-controlled group software repository, such as Github or SVN
    1. I2C and SPI hardware communication interfaces, and
    1. Failure analysis (FA) techniques, such as SEM, X-ray or CT scan.

$205,898/year to $231,110/year + bonus + equity + benefits
