POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for carrying out automated hearing screening tests on all patients. As an Audiologist Intern at Doctor's Hospital At Renaissance, this position, within the Ear, Nose, and Throat Institute at Renaissance will provide adult and pediatric audiological diagnostic and treatment services to our patients.

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

¨ Graduate from an accredited school for Audiology required.

¨ AuD and Texas audiology license

¨ Equivalent of Certificate of Clinical Competence (C-AAA) from ASHA or eligibility for clinical fellowship

¨ Organizational skills is necessary

¨ Good written and verbal communication skills required.

¨ Ability to read, write and speak English, must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish)

¨ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians

¨ Prefer hospital or physician office experience

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

¨ Strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of proper telephone etiquette, and strong typing skills are highly desired.

¨ Must have excellent customer service skills.

¨ High degree of competency/experience in general.

¨ Requires good communication and organizational skills.

¨ Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.

¨ Excellent customer service skills and able to interact with all age patients

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

¨ Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practice

¨ Performs/interprets standard/advanced audiometric tests including speech audio threshold, tympanometry, otoacoustic emission (OAE), soundfield audiology and acoustic reflex decay.

¨ Performs electrophysiological testing, such as ABR, ECochG, ENOG, and VEMP

¨ Performs VNG/ENG and provides basic vestibular rehabilitation i.e. Epley maneuver. Provides balance therapy, teaching patients vestibular rehabilitation exercises.

¨ Evaluates central auditory dysfunction, determining level of patient condition and optional treatment methods

¨ Selects/fits/counseling patients about hearing aids and hearing assistive technology including Cochlear implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Aids. Counsels on aural rehabilitation and hearing assistive technology.

¨ Evaluate screenings and present to physician for review

¨ Proper notification of screening results as per guidelines

¨ Follow infection control procedures established by the hospital

¨ Calibrates/maintains audiologic equipment and recognizes problems with screening equipment, troubleshoot as necessary and report any recurrent or unresolved problems to the supervisor

¨ Monitor inventory supply levels and notify appropriate personnel

¨ Conducts resident teaching sessions, and develops graphic presentations using variety of computer based programs as needed

¨ Supervises interns and externs. Oversees and mentors audio technicians. Directs audio-technician support to extend services to satellite offices as needed

¨ Assists with administrative duties as needed

¨ Other duties as assigned
