Weld Engineer and Project Manager

Key Role:

Maintain responsibility for planning and managing programs to meet product delivery, quality, and cost goals on specific consulting engagements by playing a leading role in driving welding-related projects forward. Determine needs and plan for the necessary equipment, personnel, and other assets to be in place, define what welding needs to be completed for the project, and prepare the required documents and procedures. Perform technical customer-facing duties, including meeting with clients to better understand their requirements or walking through a complete project with a client for their final assessment. Act as project team leader, including reviewing user or technical requirements, identifying tasks, assigning and coordinating resources, and creating or tracking project schedules. Apply expertise in welding processes to create project documentation and supervise the work of others. Maintain rigorous adherence to safety standards across the whole team, including inspecting the welding work of others and quickly determining if work has been completed safely and to the necessary standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with welding specifications and standards

  • Knowledge of welding processes and industrial applications, including shielded metal arc welding, submerged arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and gas metal arc welding

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of destructive testing and Welding calibration methods

  • Knowledge of common defense work plant manufacturing

  • Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering

  • AWS Certified Welding Engineer Certification

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
