Propulsion Engineer
Mach is a defense manufacturing company that builds munitions to help the United States win future wars. Backed by $85M in funding from top venture firms, our small lean team ideates, designs, manufactures, and sells cutting-edge weapons to the Department of Defense.
Mach Industries is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge propulsion systems for next-generation autonomous platforms. As a Propulsion Engineer, you will be directly involved in the design, testing, and optimization of air-breathing engines and propulsion systems for unmanned vehicles and advanced defense applications. You will work alongside a team of experts to develop propulsion solutions that push the limits of performance, efficiency, and manufacturability, ensuring our platforms maintain a strategic edge in modern warfare.
At Mach Industries, we are building the next-generation platforms that will revolutionize defense technology. Our focus is on producing decentralized, unmanned systems that will be deployed at scale to deter conflict and protect the American way of life. As a Propulsion Engineer, your contributions will help us design propulsion systems that are not only cutting-edge but also scalable and adaptable to the rapidly evolving defense landscape.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Contribute to the design, analysis, and optimization of air-breathing propulsion systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other advanced defense platforms.
- Testing & Validation: Assist in the development of test plans for propulsion system performance, working closely with the testing team to ensure systems meet mission-critical requirements for reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with other engineering disciplines such as aerodynamics, avionics, and systems integration to ensure propulsion systems align with overall platform performance requirements.
- Data Analysis: Analyze test data to assess engine performance, fuel efficiency, and integration with vehicle systems. Use insights to make data-driven improvements to designs.
- Manufacturability & Scalability: Focus on ensuring that propulsion systems are designed with scalability in mind, optimizing designs for high-volume manufacturing in decentralized, flexible production environments.
- Vendor & Supplier Interaction: Collaborate with external suppliers to source cutting-edge propulsion technologies and integrate best-in-class components into Mach Industries' propulsion systems.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in propulsion engineering, with a focus on air-breathing or liquid-fueled engines, ideally in military or aerospace applications.
- Technical Expertise: Strong foundation in engine thermodynamics, combustion, fluid dynamics, and propulsion systems design. Knowledge of thrust, fuel systems, and engine control systems is a must.
- Testing & Analysis: Experience with engine performance testing, including the ability to develop test plans, analyze data, and validate designs against operational requirements.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD and simulation tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, Teamcenter) to support the design and optimization of propulsion systems.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.
- Hands-on Engine Experience: Previous work in developing or testing air-breathing engines, with a proven track record of successful design, integration, and testing.
- Unmanned Systems Experience: Familiarity with the specific propulsion requirements and challenges of unmanned vehicles or autonomous systems.
At Mach Industries, we are redefining defense technology with our next-generation unmanned systems. Our mission is clear: we aim to produce these platforms at scale to secure a strategic advantage and deter conflict. As a Propulsion Engineer, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, working on high-stakes projects that will shape the future of warfare.
We provide a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where innovation, creativity, and agility are valued. If you are passionate about advancing propulsion technology and eager to contribute to the future of defense, we want to hear from you.
Join us at Mach Industries, where your work will help secure the American way of life and redefine the future of defense.
