Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

Aireon is currently seeking a Vice President of Product & Strategy to lead and manage the product ideation, product roadmap, product strategy and product marketing of Aireon's product portfolio. This role is responsible for all verticals markets of our global aviation customers (ANSPs, Airlines, Airports, DoD/IC and any other to be defined vertical). The VP of Product & Strategy shall also be responsible to review, adjust and define the product strategy for every vertical and its products as defined. This role will also be responsible for the product marketing and communication.

This role will lead market research initiatives by collaborating with marketing, product managers, and business development managers to provide input to the product development team. Foundational to this role is establishment and maintenance of the partnership between the VP of Product & Strategy and the VP of Product Development. The VP of Product & Strategy must have the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of product managers, subject matter experts, and business development managers in a nurturing culture of collaboration and peak performance.

This position will be a hybrid position in McLean, VA.

What You'll Do

The Aireon Vice President of Product & Strategy is the executive responsible for strategy of our product portfolio and the successful launch of multiple products with the right price setting in its relevant vertical market. To achieve this, market analysis and customer feedback will be incorporated into the requirements definition to be shared with the relevant internal stakeholders. The candidate will develop and execute Aireon's business product strategy and pricing in partnership with the relevant global business partners and the rest of Aireon's leadership team.

The ideal candidate must have significant organizational leadership experience, strategic vision and analytical skills, very strong communication skills, a demonstrated track record of successful product management and the ability to define strategic positioning of our product portfolio while tracking success over the product lifecycle.

The VP will be responsible to:
  • Provide strategic product vision, based on thorough market analysis
  • Provide input for product development
  • Define the correct price setting for each product and track its success financially
  • Develop full product launch plans, coordinated across the company
  • Develop full communication and marketing plan for specific products, vertical markets and overall company positioning
  • Establish a strong partnership with the sales, marketing, and IPT.
  • Obtain, retain, and lead a team of highly skilled and motivated managers and employees.
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancements, based on user and customer feedback
  • Manage the financial performance of each product family to support Aireon's corporate objectives.
  • Develop and implement an integrated high-performance culture that consistently strives to set the standard across the company.
  • Effectively represent Aireon in customer meetings and industry engagements.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape and new technologies. Proactively assess opportunities for integrations that may add value to existing products or entirely new offerings. Trigger development of proof-of-concept or minimal viable product projects to validate and market test.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related discipline.
  • Thorough understanding of the aviation industry and the operational needs and challenges
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience with proven track record of success in leading industry or civil / DoD mid to large functional and/or business level organizations.
  • Ability to engage with customers to promote Aireon's products and strategic views
  • People management: challenges employees to be extraordinary, embraces ambiguity and complexity, and utilizes coaching to grow and improve employee capabilities.
