Perform physical exams (within established protocol). Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines). Order diagnostic test. Prescribe or recommend medications for prescription for medications and treatment (within protocol guidelines). Provide preventive health screenings and immunizations for children and adults. Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling. Assist the doctor with office surgeries. Assure charts are signed off by the doctor within 7 days. Maintain patient’s privacy and confidentiality. Make follow up calls to check patients progress. Assist doctors with phone coverage and hospital rounds. Work closely with other nurses to assure patient flow is efficient. Consult with doctor regarding patient symptoms to assure proper diagnosis and plan of treatment. Performs other duties as assigned The job summary and responsibilities listed above are designed to indicate the general nature of the work performed within this job. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Master’s degree in nursing 3-5 years clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting required. 1-3 years previous experience as a NP in an acute or primary care setting or equivalent RN experience Required Licensure and Certifications Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of TN/GA (APRN:TN/GA) Licensed as an RN in the state of TN/GA (RN:TN/GA) American Heart Association BLS (BLS-CPR) Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training Effective Communication * Knowledge of the principles and skills of the nursing process to provide patient care and treatment. * Critical thinking skills * Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal * Basic Computer skills – familiarity with Windows based software programs Summary of Essential Cognitive Functions Ability to comprehend and follow instructions; maintain attention and concentration for necessary periods; synthesize, coordinate, and analyze data, perform simple and repetitive tasks; maintain a work pace appropriate to given workload; perform complex and varied tasks; relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions; get along with co-workers and peers; understand the meaning of words and how to use them appropriately and effectively; understand and remember detailed instructions; make independent decisions or exercise judgment based on appropriate information; accept and carry out responsibility for direction, control and planning.
