Cellar Hand

Do you have a passion for wine and/or making wine? The Cellar Hand is responsible for assisting throughout the winemaking process, including fruit receiving and processing, fermentation management, bottling and assisting with harvesting, if needed.

Responsibilities:

Harvest

• Assist with crushing and fermentation activities in the cellar. There may also be vineyard responsibilities, including scouting of vineyards and vineyard sampling or help picking.

• Assist in fermentation management: punchdowns, pumpovers, additions, racking, barreling down and daily analysis.
• Assist in fruit receiving and processing: cleaning press pad equipment and set up for processing - help ensure equipment is cleaned and put away at the end of the day.
• Will be required to perform tasks on elevated areas including catwalks, ladders and platforms.

• Assist in the cleanliness of the cellar ensuring all equipment used for processing is clean including tanks, pumps, hoses, fittings, press, de-stemmer, bins, floors, processing areas and lab.

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
• Previous experience in a similar position working in a production environment
• Working knowledge of cellar equipment, preferred.
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate closely with other members of the winemaking team.
• Standing for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift 50lbs.
• Requirement to wear PPE and abide by OSHA safety regulations as well as looking out for the safety of other persons in and around the processing area.
