Speech Language Pathologist, Long-Term Substitute

APPROXIMATE DURATION: March 1, 2025 to the end of the 2024-2025 school year
LOCATION: District-wide based at the George R. Martin Elementary School
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Director of Special Education
The Speech Language Pathologist identified students with communication and language disabilities and plans and implements appropriate treatment to minimize the adverse impact on the student's success. The implements individual plans and interventions within the school setting.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:
- Licensed in Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders (All Levels) by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as well as evidence of meeting all Massachusetts Department of Education standards for Highly Qualified Teacher.
- Demonstrates knowledge of computer hardware and software and other technologies and an in-depth understanding of curriculum development, instruction, assessment, and of technology integration.
- Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
- Experience working with Early Childhood age students (ages 3-7) with a variety of developmental disabilities, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, EI transition meetings, RtI interventions, etc.)
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. Early Intervention providers, parents, teachers, physicians, administration, community preschool providers, and team members) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, providing data collected, and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
- Implements direct speech and language therapy in a variety of settings (e.g. preschool) and provides instructional support and consultation to various school providers on communicative disorders, the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems and software, feeding techniques, and/or implementing prescribed school-based plans.
- Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems/maintenance, augmentative communication devices, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing the adverse educational impact of communication disorders in accordance with established Massachusetts guidelines and legal requirements.
- Prepares and interprets reports within the scope and sequence of Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals for the purpose of providing information, assessments, interpretation, and recommendation for the students.
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials and maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, correspondence, memos, Medicaid billing and reporting, etc.) ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and/or MA regulatory compliance.
