Description
Job Summary:
The overall purpose of the Resident Assistant position is to provide each of the assigned Residents with routine daily care and services in accordance with the Resident's care plan.
Qualifications:
• Is capable of following oral and written instructions
• Has a desire to care for people
• Must possess a friendly personality, ability to listen as well as talk
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
Essential Functions:
• Provides and documents personal care to assigned Residents in a manner conducive to the safety Policies and Procedures as well as state/federal guidelines and regulations.
• Promote and support the greatest possible degree of independence for Residents.
• Contribute knowledge of Residents' conditions and documents observations as required.
• Promote safe/clean environment.
• Comply with requirements of procedures for safe lifting and/or safe transfer of Residents per established policies and procedures.
• Assure that equipment including mobile devices are charged, clean and functional at all times and report any malfunctions to supervisor.
• Perform incidental housekeeping or maintenance tasks as may be required to maintain a clean, hazard-free environment for Residents, visitors and staff.
• Has reviewed Cantex Continuing Care Network's Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employee's responsibility to enforce it.
• Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Continuing Education:
• Attend in-service and educational programs.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to communicate in English via phone, in writing, and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families, and any outside customers in accordance with the Company's HIPAA Policy.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands or fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to utilize a computer, phone, etc. for extended periods of time.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Assisted Living experience is preferred but not required.
