Niyam is seeking a Java Developer to join our team in support of our work with FEMA. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in DC.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement enhancements and bug fixes for existing Grants management software.
  • Collaborate with the team to provide Tier 3 operation support, including technical analysis and solutions for production issues as needed.
  • Maintain development best practices and standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily scrum, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Participate in technical documentation and migration planning efforts.
Qualification and Education Requirements:

Required Skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years' experience with OO analysis and design (Java preferred).
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle 19).
  • Experience using tools like JIRA, Git, Subversion.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience developing and designing RESTful APIs and web services using XML, JSON, and their associated technologies.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD technologies like Jenkins
  • Experience in automated QA frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, Jest, and JUnit/TestNG.
  • Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript)
  • Experience with BPMN and BPM Engines (Camunda preferred)
  • Experience working with AWS
  • Prior government contract experience.
