Department/Unit: Elective Orthopedics - B3W

Work Shift: Day

B3W Elective Orthopedics: B3West is a 24-bed unit, private rooms in the post-surgical services. The primary population is elective orthopedic surgery & Total Joint surgery. The nursing staff cares for post-surgical patients as well as orthopedic trauma and general medical-surgical patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered
  • Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
  • Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
