Position Summary: Implements and conducts music therapy programs in accordance with the Code of Ethics set forth by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the mission of Bi-County Services, Inc. Essential Job Functions: Implements proposed music therapy Assesses consumer's strengths and needs in reference to music therapy and other disciplines. Documents progress, attendance, and incident reports according to Bi-County policies. Promotes the program's responsiveness to the needs and preferences of the consumer. Orders and maintains instruments, supplies, and equipment. Leads music therapy activities at flexible hours. Initiates and implements outings and performances with groups. Organizes music therapy program area. Consults with co-workers to schedule music activities. Ensures consumers have a safe environment to include free from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violation of rights. Abides by professional standards set forth by the AMTA Participates in staff development, in-service training and staff meetings, as required; maintains professional requirements. Complies with agency Policies which include Employee Handbook and Code of Business Practices and Ethics. Essential Job Requirements: Meet deadlines for documentation and job assignments. Makes decisions that have impact upon the lives of others. Handles several tasks simultaneously. Adapt appropriately to unusual situations. Moderate noise level at times (instruments). Works independently. Information and documentation must be accurate. Handles confidential information. Responds to behavioral issues using Positive Intervention Techniques training. Works at a personal level, yet remains professional. Possesses good organizational skills with the ability to develop and implement program record keeping systems. Ability to apply basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculation of money. Ability to read technical literature and read and write reports and business letters. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals having developmental disabilities, staff, and the public. Ability to successfully pass training and remain certified in the following within 90 days of employment: First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration and Positive Intervention Techniques. Educational Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
