JOB SUMMARY:

The Painter is involved in a variety of duties focused on quality, delivery, and high accountability. This includes working closely with Shipping for quality control, 1st and 2nd shift painter/s, (eventually 3rd shift), and assembly for workload requirements. All duties are performed under the Quality System guidelines of ISO 9001.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Execute assigned task assuring timely completion.
  • Set a positive example of performance, demonstrating responsibility, tact and professionalism in dealing with all customers inside and outside of SDI.
  • Fill units with proper lube per written instructions.
  • Ensure paint quality so we always meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Clean units and parts for painting. Ensure units are free from contaminates, such as oil, grease, Loctite, ect
  • Mask surfaces on units, accessories and parts that are not to be painted.
  • Organize daily work by types of coating.
  • Prepare primers and topcoats by mixing per instructions.
  • Prime and paint units, accessories, and parts per written instructions.
  • Perform periodic maintenance on spray booths, pro-batch, promix, guns, and other tooling.
  • Periodically checks work area to maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
  • Record confirmations in SAP after units are painted.
  • Observes company policies related to dress, appearance, attendance, employment, etc.
  • Coordinates daily tasks with other Team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management: 6S, training, lean manufacturing, company meetings, etc.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of paint and paint supplies.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience is preferred
  • Basic computer literacy
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work from instructions
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Must be able to wear and use protective equipment properly.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Results oriented with a high level of initiative and self-motivation

GENERAL:

Individuals in this position are expected to perform daily functions with little supervision. Matters that do require direct supervision should be of a nature that requires the decision making or authority of higher level management.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.
