Term of Employment: 10 months
Pitt County Schools is looking for a full time (37.5 hours per week) Occupational Therapist to serve students with identified needs. This staff person would provide the following:
Evaluation Services:
- Serve as collaborative evaluator on a multi-disciplinary team for both pre-school and school age students.
- Evaluation services to include pre-school and school age students referred for formal assessment.
- Interpret and report evaluation findings and relay information to staff and families.
- Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
- Provides direct and consultative services to pre-school and school age students.
- Provide guidance/consultation to teachers and other staff regarding student needs, assess school environment, plan and adapt for success.
- Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
- Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
- Documents occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.
- Provide supervision of assigned staff: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Participate in staff meetings as requested.
- Contributes to inventory process, budget planning, equipment maintenance.
- Must be able to use electronic devices, manage electronic databases for data entry and daily documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and have completed all fieldwork requirements.
- Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or other pediatric practice setting.
- Initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
- Current license by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.
