Lead Behavioral Health Occupational Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Lead Behavioral Health Occupational Therapist to provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to adult, dual, geriatric, and adolescent behavioral health inpatients. The incumbent will be responsible for developing treatment plans, coordinating group and individual assessments, completing documentation, and providing consultations. This position also involves overseeing Behavioral Health Occupational Therapists and COTA's, as well as scheduling staffing for therapy programming. The role requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and experience working with the chronic behavioral health/psychiatric population is preferred.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an Accredited College or University State OTR license required Training in CPI and de-escalation techniques EXPERIENCE: Experience working with the chronic behavioral health/psychiatric population is preferred COMPETENCIES: Strong clinical skills and team orientation Excellent written and verbal communication in English Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook Flexibility in approach and time management skills Ability to respond to patient emergency codes

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Evaluates patient's level of functioning and treatment needs
  2. Develops treatment plans with specific, measurable, and time-specific goals and interventions
  3. Implements age-appropriate, patient-specific treatment
  4. Communicates and coordinates patient's plan of care
  5. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner
  6. Provides supervision on group topics and group skills to inpatient staff
  7. Participates in team meetings and collaborates for patient care
  8. Responds to needs for individualized and comprehensive services
  9. Promotes recovery through functionally based therapeutic modalities
  10. Effectively manages violent or potentially violent situations
  11. Participates in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes
