POSITION SUMMARY:

S/he will use the philosophy of the YMCA mission and the four core values of character development (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) to develop and implement a program of the highest quality and to support and be a resource for the families and children the center serves.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Meet with every family and engage them in an assessment process that will result in recognition of the family needs.
  • With the consent of the family, help to locate resources in the community and work with the family to encourage utilization of resources.
  • Follow all health and safety, cleaning and sanitization guidelines as required.
  • Create ongoing involvement with the family to ensure that the resources are being utilized and the family needs are being addressed.
  • Work with the Center Director to develop a parent group which will include, but not limited to, parenting meetings, program and activities that promote healthy child development and increase parent involvement.
  • Work with the childcare staff as a team and, whenever appropriate, work with the school district staff (master teacher, social worker) to ensure family needs are being met and resources are being shared.
  • Be available to assist families with resolving and identifying resources to resolve concerns that impact that child.
  • Work closely with the Child Care Center Director to ensure a quality program.
  • Complete all required reports and records requested by the District, State Agency, YMCA and the Child Care Center.
  • Participate in staff meetings as required by Director.
  • Able to follow direction as well as work independently.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Billingual in English and Spanish is a must
  • Associate degree, preferred but strong prior work experience and a High School Degree or its equivalent can be substituted.
  • Experience working with families, particularly families with children (preschool age)
  • Knowledge of social services, agencies and community resources.
  • Experience or knowledge of the community the center is located in.
  • Able to read, speak, write and communicate in the predominant language(s) of the enrolled families
  • Computer proficiency and familiar with basic computer programs.

PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal amounts of walking, standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, reading, typing, talking, listening, filing, able to lift a maximum of 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
