Our client, a leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Director of Operations who will oversee all operational aspects of the company, from product design to marketing and sales, and from manufacturing to finance. The Director will set goals and objectives to ensure market success and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and support a large team in a demanding environment, including career development for direct reports and problem resolution.
- Collaborate with legal and safety departments to ensure compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and ensure operational compliance with the client's Quality Management System.
- Drive Lean and Continuous Improvement efforts across all responsible areas.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance internal processes, tools, and systems.
- Manage data collection for updating metrics.
- Maintain KPIs for the operations group, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvements to achieve productivity targets, reduce costs, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service.
- Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to upper management.
Specific Duties:
Manufacturing -
- Review manufacturing processes for cost-saving opportunities.
- Support defect reduction efforts and Lean and 5S initiatives.
- Participate in pre-release product design reviews.
- Identify and implement manufacturing and operational best practices and industry trends.
- Maintain operational profitability by managing overhead and operational costs.
- Recommend process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance as needed.
Supply Chain -
- Develop new suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and price.
- Review and maintain stock levels of finished goods, components, and raw materials according to forecasts and stocking initiatives.
- Ensure MRP forecasting is done with inputs from marketing, manufacturing, and planning.
- Make Buy vs. Make decisions based on internal capacity plans and cost analysis.
- Oversee export administration, ensuring conformance to export laws, regulations, and controls.
Quality Assurance -
- Manage and pass all quality audits.
- Stay informed on QA trends and directives relevant to product certifications.
- Drive supplier quality improvement efforts.
- Oversee all warranty and customer complaints.
Continuous Improvement -
- Manage Continuous Improvement efforts and provide training and oversight to projects.
- Plan and manage CAPEX project plans.
Other Duties:
- Develop and execute strategic plans for growth.
- Set annual goals and objectives by department.
- Provide technical support to all departments.
- Develop management reports as needed.
- Provide an Operations Report to Executive Management annually.
- Support Human Resources and the administration of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure CapEx and new process development projects are on time and within budget.
- Complete annual performance reviews, 30-60-90 day check-ins, and quarterly discussions with reports.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, and accounting on material scrap or slow-moving inventory liquidation.

Job Requirements
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Proven success in an operations management role with at least three years of organizational management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required; MBA is a plus.
- Strong business, analytical, and computer skills.
- Proficiency in budget development and oversight.
- Excellent delegation skills while maintaining organizational control.
- Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation.
- Knowledge of business productivity software and aptitude for learning new applications.
- Lean and continuous improvement experience required.
- Highly organized, results-oriented, and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in project management.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Deep understanding of ERP systems and MRP Planning systems.
- High-level math skills.
- Proficiency in English; other languages are desirable.
- Strong planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
- Strong communication and negotiating skills.
- Participation in continuing education and professional organizations is encouraged.
