Chief Purpose of thisposition: The department isseeking candidates who will have 20% protected time to lead the endocrinefellowship, with the remaining 80% of time in the provision of high-qualityclinical care working with learners. The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)is the largest and most diverse university in the state and provides supportfor clinical research through the Office of Clinical Trials in the Departmentof Pediatrics and the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR)which is part of a national CTSA consortium and is supported by award No.UL1TR000058 from the National Institutes of Health's National Center forAdvancing Translational Science. The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU isa stand-alone children's hospital with more than 50 subspecialists, a level IVNICU and a level 1 trauma center. We serve diverse populations throughout theCommonwealth. The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism ishome to a robust clinical service, an accredited Fellowship Program in PediatricEndocrinology and Metabolism, and a successful multidisciplinary researchprogram in childhood obesity and clinical trials in type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
PositionResponsibilities:
Teaching:
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Pediatric Endocrinology. Faculty will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.
Research:
Faculty member will have working knowledge in basic research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and/or outcomes research.
Service:
Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional service through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
Clinical:
Faculty member will serve as a Pediatric Endocrinologist for the Departments of Pediatrics.
Other (Administrative duties, etc.):
We don't anticipate significant administrative duties; however, we seek someone to lead our endocrine fellowship.
Required Qualifications:
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology
- Experience with clinical care of patients
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
