Responsibilities
- Conducts facility safety, health, record keeping, and housekeeping audits at predetermined intervals; summarizes and reports written results to Management; follow-up on remediation as needed. Audits will be conducted regularly at all Terminal locations.
- Proactively assist in the implementation of the Company's Safety and Health Program and Health & Safety Roadmap at the facilities.
- Supports Terminal Managers as necessary with post-accident/incident investigations to discover root causes of accidents, injuries and near misses; makes recommendation for eliminating or reducing exposure potentials; and completes comprehensive reviews & approvals of all investigation reports prior to submittal to Director of Terminal Operations.
- Motivates, by example, all employees to strive for a safe and accident-free work environment.
- Attends seminars or training functions to further education and remain current with industry regulations.
- Reviews all newly enacted and proposed OSHA regulations; summarizes potential impact on facilities, and communicates summary with proposed programs to comply with new regulations at all effected facilities.
- Reports all safety data on a monthly basis in the Safety Reporting Database.
- Develops and distributes to the Sr. VP of Logistics and to the Corporate Safety and Health Director, a montly safety summary containing a list of suggestions, actions, and accomplishments with respect to current safety & health initiatives.
- Participates in regulatory inspections (OSHA) and reviews all citations; and litigates citations as necessary to assure proper response and closure.
- Anticipated travel up to 60% for scheduled/unscheduled terminal visits.
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety and Health field is preferred
- Four (4) years of safety management experience in an OSHA regulated manufacturing environment
- Good communication and language skills
- Good organization, human relations and decision making abilities
- Knowledge of safety and health codes and regulations required
- Ability to build consensus, particularly in analyzing and solving problems related to employee safety and health
- Knowledge of Worker's Compensation laws
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
