*POSITION SUMMARY * The Specialty Sonographer is fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by delivering appropriate direct and indirect quality patient care and performs scans in compliance with regulatory and department processes. The Specialty Sonographer is registered and performs specialty sonograms in the area of cardiology testing, or breast, or obstetrics and gynecology, or vascular testing. *PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES * 1. Ensures the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification on “Every Patient / Every Time”. 2. Accurately completes all required written and electronic documentation (ex: patient history, pregnancy, IV contrast, procedural consent, MAR, safety portal, medication reconciliation, PACS). 3. Ensures all charges are complete and accurate for all procedures and supplies used. 4. Reviews exam orders from medical charts and prescriptions prior to performing an exam. 5. Performs procedure protocols, produces images consistent with image quality standards and follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations, adhering to The Joint Commission standards. 6. Properly positions patients using appropriate technique. 7. Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner. 8. Maintains productivity as determined by leadership. 9. Practices aseptic and sterile technique per Infection Control guidelines and policies. 10.Ensures equipment is clean and disinfected prior to each patient encounter and reports malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associates, and management in a timely manner. 11.Ensures exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked and disinfected MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Education: Graduate of a Radiology Technology, or Sonography, or Cardiovascular program • Certification o Must be registered by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute (CCI) o Must have one of the following or obtain within two (2) years of becoming registry eligible: ▪ RCCS ▪ RCES ▪ RCIS ▪ RCS ▪ RDCS (AE) ▪ RDCS (FE) ▪ RDCS (PE) ▪ RDMS (AB) (OB/GYN) ▪ RDMS (BR) ▪ RDMS (FE) ▪ RDMS (PS) ▪ ARRT (BS) ▪ ARRT (S) ▪ ARRT (VS) ▪ RVT (VT) ▪ RVS o Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain • Work Experience: Prior sonography work experience preferred *• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * o Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Office – Outlook and Word o Excellent communication skills in an active team environment. o Ability to assess and interpret data o Ability to clearly communicate with patient/family/physicians at various levels of understanding o Flexibility to work evening/weekend shifts as needed PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Moderate • Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently • Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance • May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift • May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise • May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines • Communicating with others to exchange information • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks • Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle Job: *Radiology Organization: *Health First Medical Group LLC Title: Outpatient Sonographer - OB Gyn Ultrasounds Location: Florida - Brevard County-Melbourne Requisition ID: 074192
