The Staff Nurse functions as part of the clinic leadership team, performs task and carries out responsibilities within the framework of health teaching, health counseling and supportive/restorative care. These duties are performed under the supervision of the Head Nurse/staff. The Staff Nurse will be required to perform the duties listed below and other duties involving the same type, area and degree of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Pursuant to objectives and policies of the Program, provides nursing care/activities as assigned by Head Nurse/designee, and in support of medical care as directed by the Physician
Assume all responsibilities of RN/LPN as outlined in each job description
Demonstrate accountability to care, plan, and coordinate to ensure that continuity is provided
Dispense and administer prescribed medication and treatment and observe patients for any reaction to medication
Record and report significant patient incidents/problems to Head Nurse Administrator, Chief Physician
Knowledge of the principles of confidentiality of patient information
Develop effective communications within the clinical units
Conduct and participate in patient educational activities
Maintain all pertinent clinical records
May be assigned rotation to other program sites
Clinic activities may vary depending on clinic needs and activities
Qualifications:
Must have New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse or valid permit to practice in New York State
High School Diploma/GED required, BSN Degree preferred
Basic Life Support training
Infection Control training
Certification in specialty preferred
Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems
The hours for this position are 10:00am-6:30pm Mon-Fri and 6:30am-3pm on alternating Saturdays. This is a float position and requires flexibility to work at all Wellness Center locations and various shifts as needed.
This is a 100% grant funded position
