Position Purpose and Objectives

The Application and DevOps Engineer is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the organization's application infrastructure by integrating development and operational tasks. This role focuses on improving application functionality, optimizing deployment processes, and ensuring high system availability to support business objectives effectively.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  1. Application Development and Integration:
    • Collaborate with business owners to develop new features and integrate them into existing applications, ensuring seamless compatibility and functionality.
    • Conduct comprehensive testing to confirm that new and existing code performs optimally across all operational environments.
  2. Maintenance and Enhancement:
    • Take charge of the ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of applications, aiming for minimal downtime and optimal user satisfaction.
  3. CI/CD Pipeline Efficiency:
    • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to facilitate automated testing, building, and deployment processes that enhance development efficiency and reliability across multiple environments.
  4. Infrastructure Management:
    • Employ Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to manage and provision infrastructure, ensuring that all production and development environments are resilient, scalable, and maintain high availability.
  5. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Implement advanced monitoring tools to assess the health of applications continuously. Respond to performance analytics proactively to prevent and troubleshoot potential issues, optimizing performance for better user experience.
  6. Collaboration and Advocacy:
    • Work closely with development teams to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Advocate for and implement best practices in software development and DevOps processes to drive better efficiency and effectiveness in operations.


Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming with Node.js and familiarity with front-end technologies such as Bootstrap, CSS, and HTML.
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps tools for managing builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Expertise in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Skilled in using Internet Information Services (IIS) for hosting applications and managing server environments.
  • Ability to write automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to manage and provision infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of application monitoring tools like Azure Monitor.
  • Experience in managing both SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring their optimal performance and integration into application environments.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Learning and Experience:
  • At least 4 years of experience in software development and DevOps.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining large scale web applications.
  • Certifications in Azure, DevOps methodologies, or related fields are desirable.
