SALARY: Custodial Salary Schedule

DEADLINE: Open until Filled

JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs custodial duties in assigned area to provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient learning place for students and staff.

REPORTS TO: Custodial Supervisor

EXAMPLE(S) of WORK PERFORMED:
  • Cleans building and premises, including sidewalks and play areas.
  • Sweeps, mops, wet-washes, and vacuums floors.
  • Wash and cleans windows doors, and interior glass including partitions, framed pictures, etc.
  • Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms and rest rooms.
  • Clean and wax furniture.
  • Clean, renovate and renew floor surface finishes.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs and florescent tubes as needed.
  • Shovels, plows, and/or salts walks and steps.
  • Moves furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed.
  • Assist in cleaning areas left undone as a result of an absent custodian.
  • Opens and closes the building, secures doors and windows, and turn off all appropriate lights.
  • Reports to appropriate authority any acts of vandalism, any evidence of deliberate littering, and any unruly behavior.
  • Work schedule covers periods of normal school hours and after school hours when building use has been authorized.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Regular attendance is required to provide support services to district students.
  • Requires independent travel to work sites within a building (Mobility).
  • Clean assigned area, including sweeping, mopping, wet-washing, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, etc.
  • Wash and/or clean windows, door glass and all interior glass including partitions, framed pictures, etc.
  • Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms and rest rooms.
  • Replace burned out light bulbs and florescent tubes as needed.
  • Shovels, plows, and/or salts walks and steps.
  • Moves furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Physical Demands (Strength)

-Exerts 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or

-Exerts 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or

-Exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Vocational Preparation: (Experience)

Short demonstration of skills, minimum 6 months experience.

Education Preparation: (Formal and Informal)

Deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Add and subtract two digit numbers.

Compare similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.

Print simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and series of numbers, names, and addresses.

Speak simple sentences, using normal word order, and present and past tenses.
