Overview
Under the supervision of the Guest Service Manager, the Host/Hostess is responsible for properly greeting and seating all residents and guests; documentation of all manual and computerized mealtime transactions with residents and guests; and properly understanding menu items and specials well enough to answer diners' questions.
Essential Functions
- Documents all mealtime transactions with residents and guests, according to established policies and procedures.
- Greets and escorts guests with menus to tables, acknowledging who the Dining Room Server will be before departing table.
- Helps to park mobies and walkers if no one is waiting to be seated.
- Answers the phone at reservation desk and takes reservations and orders for meals to go.
- Makes copies of all Thistle/Way breakfast trays for the week.
- Works as a Dining Room Server in the dining room or for special events when needed including setting up the dining room.
- Maintains quality levels of service by staying on the floor and actively engaging guests and needs they may have.
- Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment and all accidents/incidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Computer literate and able to under Point-of-Sale Systems.
- Full understanding of dining room operational procedures and etiquette, residents' rights, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Detail-oriented person and able to perform duties with great accuracy each day.
- Ability to focus on task needs and perform intellectual executive functions as related to the functions of the kitchen operation.
- Ability to execute intellectual tasks and duties under conditions of high demand and distraction.
- Ability to complete the essential functions of the position with or with adaptive personal devices (e.g., hearing aid, corrective lenses).
- Ability to operate equipment and technology required for the position.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Able to assist with the evacuation of residents under emergency status to the best of their physical ability.
- Able to function independently with integrity and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Able to constantly stand, walk, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Able to frequently push and/or pull a force of up to 15 pounds as relates to rolling food cart, box of food.
- Able to position oneself to access overhead, outward, mid-thigh, and floor level culinary items.
- Able to handle, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds frequently.
- Able to frequently perform efforts and tasks as related to culinary work duties, as related to working at kitchen prep tables, procuring supplies or returning times to/from noted locations, floor level to overhead.
2nd shift: Monday-Saturday with the ability to work 5 to 6 shifts per week. 20-25 hours, 4:00pm-8:00pm
Pay
$16.00-$17.50 per hour, based on experience
