The Ohio Attorney General's Office has played a vital role in shaping Ohio's past and present and the work it does today helps chart the state's future. The office consists of nearly 30 distinct sections that advocate for consumers and victims of crime, assist the criminal justice community, provide legal counsel for state offices and agencies, and enforce certain state laws. In these and other capacities, staff members interact with tens of thousands of Ohioans each year.
Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts' staff BCI's three main divisions: 1) Identifications 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory.
The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for an OHLEG Support Specialist vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section, London Ohio office. This position will report to the London location daily. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies' needs at no cost to the requesting agency.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to the state's law enforcement community regarding access to the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG). These and other important duties include:
-Collecting information and working with higher-level support staff to respond to and resolve help-desk problems.
-Using an account management system to manage user access to the system and reset passwords.
-Processing requests for access to OHLEG.
-Acting as a liaison between users, vendors, and/or the AGO's Information Technology Services section to follow up on reported issues and problems.
-Providing technical support to the OHLEG user base for the various applications made available via OHLEG portal including a records management system (RMS), OHLEG Search Engine, and Evidence Pre-log.
-Verify and Issue Missing Adult Alerts as required.
-Receive crime tips.
-Communicating with BCI Special Agents, LEADS, and law enforcement personnel regarding unique issues and needs.
-Providing support and information to public constituents as aligned with BCI policies and procedures.
-Provide assistance/support to the Sheriff's Offices for the state sex offender registry.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of associate core program in information technology, computer science, criminal justice with specialization in information systems, or related course of study.
-OR 24 months training or 24 months experience in operations, maintenance and installation of personal computers or criminal justice information systems.
-OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
