Job Title: Computer Technician
Location: Mabton School District
Work Hours: 7 hours per day (Monday - Friday)
Reports to: Director of Technology

Position Summary:
[Your School District Name] is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computer Technician to provide hands-on technology support for our school district. This individual will handle helpdesk tickets and provide technical assistance to staff, students, and administrators. The role requires both remote and on-site troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems to ensure smooth technology operations district-wide.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Helpdesk Support: Respond to helpdesk tickets, emails, and phone calls to assist with technical issues.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to computers, printers, projectors, and other district technology equipment.
    • Provide remote and on-site support for staff, students, and administrators.
  • Hardware/Software Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and district-wide technology infrastructure.
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates on desktop and laptop computers, printers, projectors, and mobile devices (e.g., tablets, Chromebooks).
    • Assist with imaging and deployment of new devices.
  • Network Support: Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including Wi-Fi connectivity, network printing, and device connections.
    • Work with the district's IT team to identify and resolve network-related issues.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain and update records of hardware and software inventory.
    • Assist in managing district-wide technology assets, ensuring proper documentation and tracking of equipment.
  • Classroom Technology: Provide technical support for classroom technology such as interactive boards, document cameras, sound systems, and other instructional tools.
    • Train staff on using classroom technologies as needed.
  • System and User Account Management:
    • Assist with the creation, management, and troubleshooting of user accounts, permissions, and access for various systems (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office 365, etc.).
    • Support users with password resets and account recovery.
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection:
    • Support district efforts to maintain secure technology systems by following cybersecurity best practices.
    • Assist with software updates, patch management, and antivirus/malware protection.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with district and building administrators, as well as the Director of Technology, to ensure smooth operations related to technology infrastructure, security, and systems.
    • Regularly update district leadership on progress with tasks such as system maintenance, cybersecurity measures, and network troubleshooting.
    • Provide recommendations and insights on improving the security and reliability of district technology systems.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with technology setup and support for school events, meetings, and presentations.
    • Provide technical assistance during state assessments and testing sessions.
    • Support special technology projects as assigned by the Director of Technology.
    • Collaborate with the IT team to continually improve district technology services and systems.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree in Information Technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or a related technical support role. Experience in an educational environment is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows, macOS, and Chromebook systems.
    • Knowledge of hardware components, peripheral devices, and common software applications.
    • Familiarity with basic networking concepts (e.g., IP addresses, Wi-Fi connectivity, DNS, DHCP).
    • Experience with ticketing systems and remote desktop support tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to document issues and solutions clearly.
Preferred Certifications:
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to crawl, bend, and reach to access network cabling and equipment.

Wage:$22.23 - $25.97
