AS400/RPG Programmer Analyst

Residency in Michigan and the ability to work onsite regularly are mandatory requirements for this role. Candidates must reside in Michigan and be able to work onsite at our corporate facility with no option for relocation. Additionally, all applicants must have the legal right to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship or support, as no visa sponsorship or support is available for this position

Summary: We are seeking a motivated Information Technology professional to join our fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in technology, a solid understanding of our business goals, and a willingness to contribute to our success. Experience in retail industry technology, logistics, distribution systems, and marketing is preferred. The ability to analyze business processes, propose enhancements, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.

Job Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Working familiarity with the IBM AS400 platform is required
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements, proposing enhancements, and providing technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including RPG3, RPG-IV, RPG-ILE, RPG-Free, and CL
  • Ability to design programming modifications considering database, screens, and reports.
  • Capability to develop and support programs, with a willingness to learn new programming skills.
  • Understanding of quality assurance principles and ability to create and execute formal test plans.
  • AS400 analysis skills and motivation to solve business needs with older technology.
  • Proficiency in general business tools like Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to produce meaningful and accurate flowcharts for business processes and programming flow
  • Aptitude for identifying and acquiring new technology skills.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Willingness to work on older technology and support legacy AS400 software applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose alternative solutions.
  • Resourcefulness in utilizing existing tools and resources to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of current trends in retail technology is advantageous.
Additional Information:
  • This position is located on-site at the company headquarters. No hybrid or work-from-home options are available
  • The position requires adaptability, a desire to learn, and a genuine interest in technology and the retail industry.
  • Collaboration with other departments, remote users, and vendors is essential for successful project implementation.
  • The candidate must stay informed about current technology trends and be proactive in acquiring new skills.
  • Adeptness in navigating technical roadblocks and proposing innovative solutions is crucial.
  • The candidate should be comfortable thinking outside the box when necessary.
