Sorter

Position: Assembly Operator

Department: Hayes Assembly

Shift: 2nd Shift (2:00pm-10:30pm)

Pay Range: $18.50/hr to $21.33/hr

Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • Aligns parts between dies or positions them against fixtures on machine.
  • Activate controls to cause machine to complete one cycle.
  • Removes and checks parts visually.
  • Completes all required production reporting including SPC - charts, timecards, cost cards, and other reports, as needed.
  • Perform inspection procedures using precision measuring instruments and apply document principles of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Use and confirm proper operation of all safety devices and procedures.
  • Complete work orders and department-related paperwork.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping duties and striving toward continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Ability to operate assembly equipment such as a punch press, kick press, rivet machine, pneumatic machine, gauging device, measuring machine, hand-held power tool, sander, grinder, drill press, etc. to assemble or shape products by crimping, forming, locking, staking, press fitting, trimming, punching, notching, drawing, grinding, drilling, shearing, measuring, etc.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to accurately use comparators, calipers, micrometers.
