Reviews processes, ensures that safety and proper ergonomics are in place. Audits and investigates departments for any safety concerns and ensures that safety equipment is available for associates to use. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
  • Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
  • Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
  • Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
  • Complies with established organization and department policies.
  • Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate's degree or higher. A current Indiana State LPN or Registered Nurse license is required. Two to three years of progressively-responsible experience in occupational health or public health is required. Must have Workplace Ergonomics certification or obtain within 3 months of hire.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Requires knowledge of, and competency in, the occupational healthcare field, which includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of occupational-related healthcare issues.
  • Demonstrates the analytical and computer skills necessary to gather and interpret data needed to perform root cause analysis of associate injuries, knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrates high level interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, medical staff, patients, family, and the public.
  • Requires ability to perform venipuncture, and other clinical procedures as required by the department.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of best practice related to work place safety.
Working Conditions
  • May need to vary days and hours scheduled in order to provide occupational health services as determined by the department's needs.
Physical Demands
  • Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
