Job Summary

The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer performs echocardiograms on patients in a dynamic, collaborative, and accredited Congenital Pediatric Echo Lab using advanced ultrasound equipment. The role includes inpatient and outpatient care delivery in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiac Sonography Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology preferred
  • Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support, required
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers(ARDMS)
  • No prior experience required

Principal Accountabilities

  • Prepares and examines all Pediatric congenital patients for echocardiogram examinations in accordance with established departmental procedures and techniques
  • Demonstrates proficiency in various echocardiogram modalities
  • Analyze patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures
  • Performs quality assurance on the equipment and routine cleaning
  • Attends staff meetings, Echo lab QI and patient care conferences, ensuring continuing education and professional growth
  • Works well with a team of other health care professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
