Overview: The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer utilizes ultrasound equipment to provide diagnostic sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate, and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. This role also provides services on-call for after-hours and emergency cases, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-quality routine and special ultrasound examinations following established protocols and procedures to minimize repeat examinations and assist in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients, ensuring optimal patient care.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, addressing concerns, and positioning patients correctly to promote a positive patient experience.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and optimize imaging parameters to produce high-quality images and ensure accurate interpretations by radiologists or physicians.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the healthcare team, including radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated patient care and prompt sharing of critical findings.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program. 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registry/Listing: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. ARDMS Ultrasound Technologist, ARRT RT(S) Ultrasound Technologist or CCI RVS. RVT/RVS Registered Vascular Technologist required for specific sites. OB/GYN and/or ABDOMEN and/or BREAST and/or VASCULAR and/or PEDS certifications are preferred.
