In the role of an Urgent Care Provider at Umpqua Health, you will be instrumental in delivering prompt medical care to patients facing non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses. This vital position demands a proactive healthcare professional who can navigate a high-energy setting, swiftly and accurately evaluate patient needs, and deliver outstanding medical care.
Your Impact:Patient Care: Provide immediate and effective medical care to patients presenting with acute, non-life-threatening conditions. Ensure that each patient receives compassionate and comprehensive care tailored to their specific needs.
Clinical Procedures: Perform a variety of minor medical procedures, including but not limited to suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, joint injections, and the application of casts. Demonstrate proficiency in using medical equipment relevant to urgent care settings.
Diagnostic Testing: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies, including X-rays, EKGs, and laboratory tests, to accurately diagnose patient conditions. Utilize point-of-care testing effectively to expedite patient care.
Prescription Management: Prescribe medications while considering patient-specific factors. Provide detailed instructions on medication use, potential side effects, and follow-up care to ensure patient safety and understanding.
Patient Education: Engage in meaningful dialogue with patients and their families, offering clear explanations of medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies. Encourage patients to take an active role in their health management.
Clinical Decision Making: Utilize evidence-based medicine to make informed clinical decisions. Prioritize patient safety in all decisions and actions. Recognize when to escalate care to a higher level or when to refer patients to specialists.

Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning through attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. Stay current with advancements in urgent care medicine to enhance clinical practice.
Valid state license as a Doctor (MD or DO), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
Board certification in family medicine, emergency medicine, or related field preferred.
Previous experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or a related acute care setting.
