Primary Purpose:

The Licensed Professional Counselor will work with a district-level administrative team to coordinate support services across the district. The LPC will work closely with site administrative teams as well as counseling teams to coordinate, facilitate, and implement mental health support services for students and staff members. Work with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members to enhance student mental health support. Conduct individual therapeutic interventions, small group psychotherapy interventions, and serve as a member of mental health intervention teams within school settings to provide mental health knowledge and support.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
  • Master's degree or higher in Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid state license as a Professional Counselor
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting individual counseling sessions and implementing evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with diverse clients
  • Knowledgeable of ethical standards and legal regulations governing the counseling profession
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively document client sessions and collaborate with other professionals

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

The duties listed below are not intendent to depict all tasks required by this position.

Assessment

1. Administer and interpret assessments and screenings to evaluate client's psychological functioning and identify areas of concern.

2. Score and interpret test data.

3. Develop psychological evaluation reports and behavior management plans.

Consultation

4. Conduct group, individual and family counseling sessions to assess client's mental health concerns, develop treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions.

5. Serve as consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school health program.

6. Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel with identification and understanding of students with emotional, social, and behavioral disturbances.

7. Meet with parents to discuss pertinent background information and test results.

8. Consult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.

9. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.

10. Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute mental health challenges.

Program Management

11. Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.

12. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of services and assessment procedures and make changes based on findings.

13. Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.

14. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including case records, test results, statistical data, and test inventories.

15. Create and maintain confidential client records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation of sessions, progress notes, and treatment.

16. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of psychological services.

17. Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.

18. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.

Communication

19. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.

20. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
