Position Overview

The Lead Nurse provides nursing care to clients in a residential/inpatient setting.

How Lead Nurses Empower Recovery
  • Performs all tasks and responsibilities associated with floor/staff nurse
  • Develops and implements staffing plan for each shift based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff
  • Consistently follows established safety and infection control procedures and identifies and intervenes in unsafe situations
  • Assists Nurse Manager in the maintenance and tracking of supplies and equipment
  • Ensures operation of medical equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability and maintaining equipment inventories
  • Participates in on-call rotation as determined by site leadership; minimally expected to take call in the absence of a Nurse Manager
  • Attends and assist with planning nursing staff meetings
  • Helps promote team building and staff morale
  • Assists with training and onboarding for new nursing staff
  • Checks in routinely with nursing staff who are within their first 90 days for questions and support with competencies
  • Supports staffing during critical gaps and shortages
  • Supports floor nurses with high acuity (insulin, several NG feeds, pts refusing NG feeds)
  • Assists with admissions as needed
  • Assists with department audits
  • Collaborates with other Lead Nurses and Nurse Manager
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in state or compact
  • Active BLS certification
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience (inpatient medical setting preferred)
  • Previous Supervisor experience preferred
  • Experience in eating disorders preferred
