We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with Nursery experience to join our team on the Night Shift $15,000 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR ELIGIBLE, EXPERIENCED RNSThe Women's Services unit is composed of 8 labor rooms, 2 ante partum rooms, 18 postpartum rooms, 3 triage beds and 8 NICU bassinets. We also have a certified lactation consultant on-staff to assist when needed.
Job Duties:
- Based on nursing assessment, collaborates to create, modify and re-prioritize patient plan of care as necessary
- Recognizes and reports changes in the patient's clinical condition. Identifies actual and potential health problems and their implications based on observed data/signs
- Recognizes implications of abnormal diagnostic tests and follows through (lab, NST, OCT, US, x-rays/scans, vital signs)
- Proficient at Gestational/Age Maturity Rating Scale, Neonatal Abstinence Scoring, breast/bottle feeding, Glucose Protocol, bathing and daily care, oxygen setup, discharge teaching/planning, circumcision care/teaching and PKU
- Promptly identifies and interprets subtle and early indicators of crisis situation and intervenes (e.g. recognizes patient changes when precipitous delivery is imminent and prepares for deliver)
- Proficient with equipment specific to nursery, radiant warmers, incubators, bili lights, biliblankets, Spacelabs and Dinamap vital signs monitor, scales and pulse oximeters
- Demonstrates competency to manage all areas of emergency nursing involving different body systems within age specific criteria
- Responds to additional unit needs during crisis and coordinates neonatal transport
- Documents findings and communicates all pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members as appropriate
- Provides education to patients/families/significant others, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn
- Performs Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. Documents required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards
- Delegates appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice
- Participates in developing other staff and affiliating students
- Demonstrates willingness to Cross-train and/or assist other areas of the hospital accepting assignments within competency level, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in Texas, or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 90 days of hire
- Minimum 1 year of Nursery or related experience preferred
