Role Summary

Internship Term:

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates.To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027.

Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements.

As a Data Science Intern on Rivian's Reliability and Product Development team, you'll play a crucial role in driving product quality and reliability through data-driven insights. By modeling and forecasting potential failures in critical systems like the HV battery pack and drive units, you'll directly contribute to improving the performance and safety of Rivian's vehicles on a global scale.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze extensive vehicle telemetry data to provide insights into product reliability and performance.
  • Develop statistical and machine learning models to predict and forecast field failures, supporting Rivian's high standards of quality and safety.
  • Conduct research on algorithms, focusing on prototyping, validation, and iterative refinement for practical advancements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to harness big and small data across customer fleets, manufacturing, and service operations.
  • Communicate findings and model insights effectively to support decision-making within cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an M.S. degree in engineering, math, physics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong understanding of statistical and machine learning concepts, with experience in Python and the PyData stack; Spark experience is a plus.
  • Big fata technologies preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis, forecasting, and problem-solving within applied machine learning projects.
  • Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying insights and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • 40 hours/week, full-time

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
