Description
This position holds significant project management assignments with the primary objective of managing the execution of technology-centric projects. A key focus is continually analyzing all functions for process improvement, service enhancement, quality, and efficiency to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished according to time, cost, and performance. Position is onsite.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports and works with the IT Department in managing projects or programs to ensure the program's overall success.
- Manages the technicality of all projects by learning the process, the system, and the backbone to the smallest detail involved.
- Manages and thrives by bringing order when dropped in the middle of unfamiliar project challenges and environments.
- Define and develop project requirements, charter, scope, and plan. Also responsible for determining the schedule and budget.
- The personnel determine methods and procedures for project accomplishment.
- Identify and manage potential risks and liabilities of various projects.
- Attend and present at the prioritization committee meetings to define and determine the priority of projects, time requirements, team requirements, and goals.
- Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources effectively and efficiently.
- Define, manage, and execute several projects concurrently.
- Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for progressing with the project.
- Serving as a point of contact for teams when numerous units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy.
- Responsible for performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.
- Motivating people involved in the project to complete tasks on time.
- Oversees the purchase and distribution of approved devices and software.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in systems application with specialized knowledge in computer analysis and programming.
- Coordinates the implementation of consistent processes across the ministry and projects and ensures the execution of projects per the established processes.
- Provide feedback to management on changing methodologies/standard operating procedures, as appropriate.
- Maintain the detailed project schedule with routine updates.
- Provide the IT Manager and Asst. IT Manager with written project status reports as needed and update the same in Wrike.
- Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with personnel from other departments, keeping open lines of communication, and promoting cooperation between the IT Department and other departments within the ministry.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or related area.
- PMP certification or get the certification within a year of the position.
- SCRUM Master certification a plus.
- Knowledge of "Wrike" (tasks and project management tool) or be ready to learn within six months of the position.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing IT and Technical Projects - Preferred.
- Must be an agent of change and transformation.
- A successful candidate must be inquisitive about how systems, processes, and things work.
- Thrives and brings order when dropped in the middle of chaos.
- Practical project management skills and ability to resolve problems.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) framework is preferred.
- Proven leadership, Problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Cost and risk management skills.
- Ability to make crucial decisions under pressure.
- Current and evolving Technology savvy.
- Detailed knowledge of Wrike project management application a plus.
- Knowledge of various project management methodologies (e.g., agile/scrum) - Preferred.
- Should be proficient in various programming technologies and have expertise in hardware and networking technologies used throughout KCM and KCM related events.
- High analytical skills to assist in finding solutions to complex technical and system problems.
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
- Must be very organized and require minimum instruction.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all KCM supervisory and non-supervisory employees to coordinate projects between KCM staff and outside vendors and contractors.
- Confident, self-starting, goal-oriented, friendly, and approachable.
- Computer, copier/print machine, telephone, flip charts, easel, and other equipment common to a standard office setting.
- Will be required to drive a vehicle from time to time.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit at a computer most of the day.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, telephones, and other office equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
- Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written and project materials, and articulate goals and action plans.
- Must be task and goal orientated.
- Must adapt well to changing work situations.
- Must be able to grasp and apply new ideas.
- Must resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions.
- Must relate to and interact with people at all levels.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and must be a strong team leader.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work with minimal direction.
- A team member in this position works in an environment that demands constant attention.
- Adherence to and commitment to Ministry policies, rules, and regulations.
- Regular work hours are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Occasional overtime and event support is a possibility.
