We are currently looking for a Full Time GIS Technician to join our Roads Program Transportation Section team located at the Roads Department Building working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

Performs data entry and analysis to create, maintain, display and update a comprehensive geographic information system including production of accurate maps and other representations of the data. Researches source records and documents and collects data using global positioning system (GPS) devices and other collection methods.

Responsibilities:
* Collects and analyzes data pertaining to facility inventory, construction and maintenance projects, environmental studies, and other transportation-related areas from a variety of sources, such as online data warehouses, GPS collection devices, surveying equipment, and traffic data collection devices.
* Inputs and maintains accurate and up-to-date facility inventory data, construction and maintenance project data, environmental studies, and other transportation-related data within Roads Program GIS databases and Web Map application.
* Researches and interprets source documentation, including correspondence, legal documents, constructions plans, and other specific discipline related technical writing.
* Produce high quality, accurate graphs, charts, plots, maps, and other visual representations of data pertaining to facility inventory, construction and maintenance projects, environmental studies, and other transportation-related areas as assigned.
* Obtains required certifications and applies new techniques as they are implemented in order to perform job duties.
* Attends trainings and meetings as required.
* Interacts with state, federal and other agencies for data enhancement, acquisition and development.
