Speech Language Pathologist

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for assessing patients' needs, planning and providing speech therapy treatments for patients with speech/language problems, including swallow dysfunction. Able to carry out written prescription/referrals from physician. Also provides community education programs and other related work as required. NYS license (No CFY's) or eligibility required. ASHA CCC's required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for speech, language and swallowing therapy evaluation and treatment in accordance with physician referral.
- Other responsibilities include instructing and educating speech students, the community and supervising rehab aides.
- Completing assessment of patient's speech, language, and swallowing function, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs.
- Education: Successful completion of accredited speech language pathology program including Master's degree, certificate of clinical competence (ASHA)
- Licensure: NYS Licensure
- Problem solving ability and attention to detail is preferred
- Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
- Requires ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely and adjust to changes in work volumes.
- Ability to lift and move patients with assistance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
