Job Description

Job Title: Call Center Representative

Objective: Primary objective is to provide telephone/clerical support within the Department, or Clinic-wide when requested, adhere to all policies and procedures of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and meet the needs of our patients in a teamwork approach.

Job Responsibilities

  • To have a positive attitude and practice teamwork.
  • Make the patients happy.
  • Answer all the patient's questions.
  • Keep the Clinic clean.
  • Meet or exceed patient, doctor and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach.
  • Answer incoming calls in a polite, prompt and helpful manner.
  • Screen calls and direct to appropriate staff member.
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments or other matters.
  • Obtain demographic, insurance or other information from patient as required.
  • Take telephone messages which are legible and obtain all required information. Retrieve messages from voicemail system. Request charts from Medical Records department for telephone messages.
  • Schedule, coordinate and reschedule patient appointments as instructed by providers.
  • Communicate all pertinent information to front desk, nurses and/or providers with regard to patient appointments or telephone messages.
  • You may be required to stay past 5:00 p.m. as needed to accommodate after hour patients.
  • Avoid personal telephone calls and personal business during clinic operating hours.
  • With instruction, anything else ask of me to help the department run smoothly.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all OSHA guidelines.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures.
Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Experience preferred but not required.

Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to utilize computer systems for the purpose of completed assigned tasks.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Skills in communicating effectively with co-workers, doctors and patients.
  • Skill in effectively role modeling appropriate behavior.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with patients, doctors/providers, co-workers and vendors.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments.
Environmental/ Working Conditions

Combination of office and clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and potential exposure to bodily fluids.

Physical / Mental Demands

Must be able to sit for entirety of work day. Stress from multiple responsibilities.

Department Standards

All representatives of the Allergy Department are expected to 1) promote an image of professionalism, 2) perform all duties asked of them in a timely and efficient manner, and 3) focus primarily on providing excellent customer service.
