The Dispatcher, Motor Vehicle is responsible for the assignment of motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight and passengers, including compiling lists of available vehicles. The successful candidate for this position needs to be able to adjust to last minute changes and work with drivers to schedule pickup or delivery for our client when necessary.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Assigns motor vehicles and drivers for conveyance of freight or passengers.

  • Makes determination on assignment of vehicles based on various factors, such as length and purpose of trip, freight or passenger requirements, and preference of user.

  • Issues keys, record sheets, and driver credentials.

  • Records departure times, destination, cargo, and expected time of returns, and investigation of overdue vehicles.

  • Communicates with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed or damaged merchandise, as necessary.

  • Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses.

  • Produces reports and logistics data as required.

  • Directs actives of drivers.

  • Assigns helpers to drivers as needed

  • Assigns vehicles to customer agencies.

  • Other duties may be assigned to meet organizational/operation objectives.

  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work will typically be in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • May be times when employee is exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions.

  • Employee will be required to conduct some outdoor activities, requiring exposure to hot and cold weather conditions.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine and printer.

  • Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.

  • May be required to wear a mask covering nose and mouth.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a U.S. Birth Certificate or valid U.S. Passport.

  • Must be able to successful pass a background check.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  • Must have a valid State Drivers License

  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Liberty Military Installation.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Army Transportation System.

  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels.

  • Ability to effectively manage customer contact.

  • Possess high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.
