The University of Maryland Medical System is conducting a search for a Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for University of Maryland Shore Regional Health. This individual, a key member of the senior leadership and direct report to the UM Shore Regional Health CEO, will provide medical and clinical leadership, expertise and perspective to the senior leadership team, the medical staff, and clinical employees throughout the organization. In addition to providing leadership and expertise in support of clinical activities and clinical quality the UM Shore Regional Health, the CMO will play a key role in the development and execution of strategies that support the accomplishment of goals across the organization as a whole.
More specifically, the scope of duties for the SVP/CMO includes the following key elements: liaison, medical staff affairs, quality of patient care services, and strategic planning. This position has responsibilities in working with the medical community and requires excellent clinical credentials to have credibility with practitioners. Also, the SVP/CMO manages programs and participates in operational decisions, requiring varied experiences and skills as a physician executive. The SVP/CMO plays a key role in the relationship with the University of Maryland Medical System, working closely with the Chief Clinical Officer of the broader health system. This individual will also be the primary executive leader of efforts such as safety, care coordination, patient experience, population health and case management.
University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM Shore Regional Health) is a regional, nonprofit, medical delivery care network formed on July 1, 2013, through the consolidation of two University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) partner entities, the former Shore Health and the former Chester River Health. As a member of UMMS, UM Shore Regional Health is able to enhance its various clinical programs and facilities and facilitate physician recruitment, bringing world-class medical care to the residents of Maryland's Mid-Shore region. The network consists of two hospitals - University of Maryland Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown and Easton - as well as two freestanding emergency centers, urgent care services, medical pavilions and a broad array of inpatient and outpatient services location across the five-county region. UM Shore Regional Health is part of The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) - a $4.8 billion academic health system comprised of 12 hospitals, 5,200 affiliated physicians and more than 29,000 employees.
The ideal candidate will have progressive experience leading physicians, clinical programs in a complex, matrixed healthcare organization. The individual must possess a physician license or be eligible for licensure in the State of Maryland. An MBA or equivalent is preferred.
