A Brief Overview
Responsible for all medication dispensing and preparation functions according to Pharmacy policy and procedure with additional responsibility for ADM (Automated Dispensing Machine) restocking.

What you will do

  • Displays knowledge of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, strengths, concentrations, etc
  • Accurate check and/or fill of medication orders either dispensed via automation or requiring manual pick from automated storage units
  • Displays compliance and competence regarding standard procedures for preparing sterile products including departmental policies, aseptic technique, USP 797, documentation, safety precautions, etc
  • Displays competence regarding operation of medication management automation and equipment, such as, but not limited to, automated dispensing cabinets, dispensing robot, storage carousel, MIC chambers
  • Handles medications in a safe manner to ensure proper storage conditions, avoidance of dispensing errors, tracking of delivery via closed loop system and reports safety or procedural concerns when necessary
  • Familiar with and utilization of drug references to obtain necessary drug specific information pertaining to dispensing, preparation, storage, etc of medications
  • Displays competence regarding mathematical calculations required for accurate dispensing of pharmaceutical preparations for all medication administration routes
  • Displays competence regarding additional responsibilities as trained and assigned such as departmental areas inspections, chemo preparation, medication packaging and robot stocking, scheduling, etc
  • Covers alternate shifts based on need for Benefit Time coverage or Department need
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Education Qualifications

  • High School Or equivalent experience Required


Experience Qualifications

  • less than 1 year Must have recent hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician Required and
  • Long-term care, compounding or retail Pharmacy Technician Required and
  • Inventory management and automation experience Preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Detail oriented and ability to work in a consistent and methodical manner (High proficiency)


Licenses and Certifications

  • LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech NJ Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire Required and
  • PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech Board Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Upon Hire Required
