Position Title: Swim Instructor (Part-Time)
Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director for Aquatics
Salary: $15/hr
POSITION GOAL:
To create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with RSD policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a minimum age of 14 years old.
- Proven experience working as a swim instructor or active member of a swimming team.
- Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules.
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent conflict resolution skills
- Passionate and enthusiastic
- Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
- Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
- Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
- Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
- Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills including communication skills with students, parents and facility staff.
- Ensures that all possible safety measures are observed, including taking care of proper equipment and proper surveillance of program participants.
- Attend all training sessions and any additional staff meetings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The Swim Instructor must be able to swim and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
