We're looking for someone who loves to work independently, is a trailblazer, and is passionate about making a huge impact in the community We are looking for an experienced Dental Hygienist to perform dental measures designed to preserve teeth and prevent the spread of oral disease, provide oral health education to patients, and maintain the patient care environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Record medical and dental histories, vital signs, and updated demographic information in the patient's chart
  2. Perform duties according to the dental treatment plan as provided by the assigned dentist
  3. Assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontal, and associated conditions and pathology in dental outpatients
  4. Perform full mouth periodontal probing or PSR on initial and appropriate subsequent visits
  5. Record findings; notes bleeding, mobility, furcation involvement, and tissue tone in patient's chart
  6. Able to perform more than 2 deep cleanings per day
  7. Provide clinical services, health education, and after-care instructions to improve and maintain oral health such as brushing, flossing, and other plaque control methods
  8. Ensure that required/applicable forms and documents are presented, explained, and completed
  9. Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments
  10. Notify appropriate staff of patient requests that need follow-up: referrals, and appointments
  11. Perform tobacco use screening and initiate cessation support when appropriate
  12. Proficient in intraoral camera use
  13. Able to take digital radiographs
  14. Experience in Eaglesoft or similar Dental Health Record System
  15. Must possess general working knowledge of computer usage (word, excel, internet browser, outlook, etc.)
  16. Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse incidents during the treatment of patients
  17. Maintain unit, and supplies and submitted requisitions in a timely manner
  18. Prepare the operatory for patient care daily by cleaning, sanitizing, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment
  19. Must be a self-starter, self-motivated individual, that doesn't require constant supervision
  20. Must be a team player, and able to work closely with other health professionals (Ex: Medical, Pharmacy, Nurse Practitioner)
  21. Provide chair-side assistance to the dentist in the performance of procedures, complex treatments, and special tests
  22. Complete patient scheduling duties and cross-train to provide backup coverage to the dental Patient Access Specialist
  23. . Follows all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance
  24. Maintains confidentiality of patient information/records at all times
  25. Maintains established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  26. Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic's cultural diversity objectives
  27. Participates in team meetings/activities and supports the goals of the team, department, and San Jose Clinic
  28. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
  1. Degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene School.
  2. Successful completion of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners exam for Dental Hygiene.
  3. Hold and maintain valid State of Texas Dental Hygienist Registration and CPR-BLS certification.
  4. Must have a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the dental hygiene profession.
  5. Possesses excellent knowledge of dentistry procedures.
  6. Knowledge of insurance and eligibility requirements.
  7. Can demonstrate excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, and effective use of time.
  8. Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public and all levels of the organization.
  9. Ability to operate computer, copier fax, and scanners
  10. Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Can demonstrate effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast-paced environments.
  12. Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
