Role and Responsibilities
  • This Technical position involves many facets of the Norwalk Public Schools end user workstation infrastructure. This position will maintain the current Norwalk workstation configuration; troubleshoot, and deploy new equipment throughout the district.
  • This Technical position involves many facets of the Norwalk Public Schools end user workstation infrastructure. NPS IT Technician maintains the operation of all new workstations, both PC and Apple and Chrome OS, and provides repairs when needed. Installs peripheral equipment i.e. printer, scanner, and new technologies; has a working knowledge of computer use, maintenance and repair; proficient in all aspects of personal computer workstations, internal and external; has graduated from an accredited high school and two years of experience or graduation from Technical School in hardware and software support. Has a valid motor vehicle driver's license. Working knowledge of all Microsoft operating Systems as well as Chrome OS and Apple. A+ Certification desired. Fluency in Spanish is an asset. Essential Functions:
  • Maintains the operation of all new workstations, both PC, Chrome OS and Apple, and provides repairs when needed. Setup and inventory all new workstations, and equipment. Supports Data processing operations personnel. Install peripheral equipment i.e. printer, scanner, and new technologies. Maintains inventory of all hardware. Evaluates computer equipment to determine feasibility of repair. Instructs staff in the proper use and maintenance of equipment. Maintains connectivity to the Norwalk Public Schools Network. Performs other related duties as assigned by director of technology.
  • Working knowledge of computer use, maintenance and repair. Proficient in all aspects of Personal computer workstations, internal and external. Ability to work with other staff as well as work with indirect supervision. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must be able to sit at a desk or stand at an assigned location and work continuously for extended periods of time, utilizing office equipment. Must be able to handle carrying a load at a maximum of 50.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor (e.g., maintenance PC's, help desk, etc.). Provide Desktop support to staff


Qualifications and Education Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school and two years of experience or graduation from Technical School in hardware and software support. Valid motor vehicle driver's
license.

Working knowledge of all Microsoft operating Systems as well as Macintosh, Unix, and Linux. Working knowledge of peripherals that must be maintained on the network; routers, switches, etc. Knowledge of wireless
systems, audiovisual installation and support is recommended. Experience with PowerSchool student information systems a plus.
A+ Certification (or equivalent) desired.
