Role: Substation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Substation Engineer to join our team in Oceanport, NJ. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in substation physical design and proficiency in using MicroStation design software. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex and rewarding projects within the power and utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Substation Physical Design: Develop detailed physical designs for substations, including layouts, electrical arrangements, and equipment specifications.
  • MicroStation Design: Utilize MicroStation design software to create and modify technical drawings and schematics for substation projects.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC, IEEE, and local guidelines.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including design reports, specifications, and as-built drawings.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and verify design outputs for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Site Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to RFI (Requests for Information) and troubleshooting design issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance design efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design, with a strong focus on physical design.
    • Proven experience with MicroStation design software is required.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in using MicroStation for substation design.
    • Strong understanding of substation layout, equipment, and design principles.
    • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC).
