Performs diagnostic CT procedures within the CT Department utilizing specific equipment for that purpose. Rotates through diagnostic radiology as assigned and performs all responsibilities outlined in the CT Technologist (Non-Registered) job description. Involved in the practice of radiation and general safety at all times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
For West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland locations:
1. Certification in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the NMTCB.
2. Radiologist Technologist OR Nuclear Medicine license through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners, or applicable state where services will be performed.
4. Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified within 30 days of hire.
For Pennsylvania locations:
1.Certification in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist OR Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the NMTCB.
2. Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified within 30 days of hire.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepares room, equipment, materials, as needed for patient exams, including sterile technique. Cleans and disinfects rooms and equipment following each patient exam, using current infection control policies.
2. Performs examinations per Physician's orders and explains procedures to the patients. Documents any variations from protocol due to patient's condition or other unknown cause and relays patient history and clinical data to Radiologist.
3. Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes. Transports and assists patients as needed.
4. Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient's chart.
5. Documents variances repeats and other such occurrences to help maintain high quality health care and opportunity for quality improvement.
6. Maintains stock supplies, performs general office duties, responsible for proper film labeling and following prescribed techniques to assure acceptable quality and consistency.
7. Practices safe radiation exposure and protection as well as general safety for patient's, visitors, and staff at all times.
8. Complies with policy and procedures for the departmental and hospital wide programs. Participates in the patient safety training and patient protection, including the needs and methods to report medical/ healthcare errors and abuse.
9. Produces diagnostic quality images utilizing CT equipment and effectively judges CT images for proper technique to best demonstrate anatomy and pathology. Performs critical procedures under stress during emergency procedures.
10.Performs diagnostic studies using mobile radiographic equipment in emergency or patient rooms as ordered by physician. Performs diagnostic studies in surgical suite with C-Arm and other equipment.
11. Provides care specific to the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
12. May perform IV insertion/blood draws.
13.Administer IV/Oral/Rectal contrast for CT imaging procedures per radiologist protocol/department manual and ordering physician/care provider order.
14.Utilize PACS to ensure exams are completed and available for the radiologist to read and for the referring physician/care provider review.
15.Performs all related duties as assigned by department manager or other duties assigned by lead technologist.

3. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal range.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of growth and development, understanding of the patient's needs and scope of treatment.
2. Understands the dynamics for each patient incorporating biophysical, bio-psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural, ethical and discharge planning needs.
3. Knowledge of total care of patients, whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment, focusing on the control of pain and other symptoms.
