Position Job Title: Electrician II
Nature of Work:
This position performs electrical services required to maintain a functional and safe learning environment for students, staff, and the public. Employees perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Generally, work assignments are by written or oral direction and are performed in accordance with accepted practices. Employee receives supervision and works independently on minor tasks.
The employee assists other employees/trades and performs a variety of general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed. Employee practices safe work procedures.
Essential Duties Assigned To This Position:
Uses voltage meter to test for current and conductivity.
Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs wiring.
Installs conduit, pulls wire, and make connections.
Installs and connects equipment to wiring systems.
Replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
Replaces faulty electrical components.
Determines and requests type and quantities of materials needed.
Observes/monitors contracted work as needed.
Performs general maintenance and manual labor tasks as needed.
Assists other employees/trades as needed.
Maintains and records material purchases and man-hour expenditures.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in the electrical trade.
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues in electrical systems and equipment.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
Ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Training, Experience, and Special Requirements:
High Diploma or equivalent.
2 years' experience working in the electrical field OR a combination of experience and technical school training.
Must hold a valid NC driver's license
